Alb. sh-krep, sh-kep “gleiche ein wenig” (sh = IE sem, som, sm̥-, compare to meaning O.H.G. gi-līh “gleich”: līh “body”); Lat. corpus, -oris n. “body, body”; M.Ir. crī f. “body” (*kr̥pes); O.H.G. (h)rëf m. “body, lower abdomen, womb”, O.Fris. href, hrif “belly”, O.E. hrif n. “womb, belly” (*hrefiz- = *krepes-), O.E. mid(h)rif, O.Fris. midref “Zwerchfell” (“*in the Withte the Leibeshöhle”). Gk. πραπίς, mostly pl. -ίδες “Zwerchfell”, das den anlaut as kʷ erwiese, is in seinerZugehörigkeit doubtful, da die corresponding meaning from O.E. mid(h)rif probably auf dem 1. part of Kompositums based on; es mũßte because πραπίς eine short form to a similar composition sein; after Vendryes RC 44, 313 ff., Specht KZ. 68, 193 ff. wäre IE *kʷerp- taboo metathesis to *perkʷ- “life, world, oak” (Goth. faírƕus “world”).
